Vision.
A world where every woman, man and child leads a healthy, fulfilling life of self-reliance and dignity.

Our mission is to save, improve and protect lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of undernutrition, especially during and after emergency crises caused by situations of conflict, displacement, poverty, discrimination, inequality, or natural disaster. From crisis to sustainability, we tackle the immediate, underlying and root causes of undernutrition and its effects through a multisectoral approach. By designing our programmes with local communities, integrating them into national systems, and working with partners, we further ensure that short-term interventions become long-term solutions.

According to the latest report published jointly by FAH and four other UN agencies, about 820 million people on the planet are malnourished.                                                                                                                       By convening key figures from the worlds of research, policymaking, and development programme implementation to share knowledge of the policies, interventions, and technologies that have effectively accelerated the elimination of undernutrition, the conference aims to catalyze the next era of rapid reductions in hunger and malnutrition.                We have the tools, and we have the knowledge to eliminate hunger in the next 12 years,” said Fan. “By empowering key actors in policymaking, research, and program implementation with those tools and knowledge, we can reach this goal and help millions of people achieve their full potential.”
“We need to work closely together more than ever, sharing with each other those successful experiences. If we can accelerate this knowledge exchange, then we can accelerate its implementation and take actions that are more concrete,” Graziano da Silva said. “Hunger and obesity are not simply an individual’s problem. They are public issues. That is why this conference jointly convened by IFPRI and FAH is so important. We must accelerate our actions to end hunger and malnutrition. But we also need stronger political will and greater financial commitment to get the job done. Political will is fundamental.” The IFPRI-FAH Conference on Accelerating the End of Hunger and Malnutrition, is taking place in Bangkok and runs 23-27 March 2022.                                                                                              For further information, contact: Robert Mendow, FAH Regional Communication Officer Drew Sample, IFPRI Media Engagement Manager                                                          www.fightagainsthungerr.com

Fight Against Hunger Succesful story

Halimo fixed her gaze on the sky and prayed for rain that hadn’t come for months. She anxiously checked two-year-old Yareeyo’s fever. The child had been coughing for weeks, and the family was out of options.                                                                               Years of conflict and drought have left Somalia one of the world’s most fragile places. In this part of the country, there is no clinic or ambulance. There’s barely a road.“The drought was killing our livestock. With no income and not enough food, my daughter’s condition was getting worse,” Halimo said.Searching for a solution, she heard of an emergency program run by Action Against Hunger, one of the only humanitarian groups braving this dangerous terrain. But the program was in El Barde, days away. Halimo would need to find the way on foot, carrying her daughter who was too weak to walk. To fund the journey, the family sold two goats, leaving them even more vulnerable.Halimo walked for days, determined to save her baby. “I thought I was going to lose my child,” she said. When they reached Action Against Hunger’s stabilization center, Yareeyo was quickly admitted for inpatient care.
After three days of tube-feeding and antibiotics, Yareeyo began to improve. She smiled at her mom. In just a week, she was stable enough to be discharged and referred to Action Against Hunger’s outpatient program. Halimo left with an inexpensive new tool to monitor her kids for early signs of risk.Somalia is one place where hunger can be far more common than the flu, and far deadlier. Thankfully, it’s also treatable, when moms like Halimo are armed with tools, information and the unshakable will to see their children thrive.

Fight Against Hunger successful story

As the world’s only nonprofit organization focusing on the issues of hunger and malnutrition, Fight Against Hunger has had a lot of success centering on the people most in need.
The poorest countries in the world, is experiencing a drought affecting its agriculture. They had no access to water located underground, but they needed diesel-irrigation systems to pump out the water. Since many families cannot afford this machinery, Dreyfuss explained that the organization is helping end poverty by teaching the farmers to use solar-powered generators to pump water from wells.                                                                                     Kenya experienced a drought that resulted in many families being unable to feed their children and family members. Without any food available, they lacked essential mineral and nutrient intakes. As a result, Fight Against Hunger “set up local mother-to-mother support groups where women work together to maintain Kitchen Gardens. They use innovative techniques to grow vegetables,” said Dreyfuss.                                                                                                                            Fight Against Hunger believes it needs to focus on the people the most in need to eliminate hunger in other countries.“Long-term solutions must empower community members on the ground to effect positive change in their communities,” Dreyfuss explains.                                                   Most people who lives in South Africa before Fight against Hunger implemented a food security project in the area, hunger was killing them

Fight Against Hunger successful story.

Eight-year-old Junior Alexander Hernandez periodically visited the lunch program at the Verbo Local Church Initiative in the Nicaraguan community of Nueva Vida. ORPHANetwork‘s Local Church Initiative (LCI) program empowers the local church to reach its community for Christ through holistic tools (food, nutrition, health, hygiene, and spiritual tools).                                                                                                                    Due to his family’s lack of resources, most outsiders would imagine a child like Junior would have been first in line for a hot and nourishing Stop Hunger Now meal each day. But more often than not, the child simply wasn’t hungry and he lacked the energy needed to make the relatively short walk to the church.About eight months ago, Junior came to the LCI on a day when the children’s health was being assessed at the Nueva Vida Medical Clinic.                                                                                                                    The clinic monitors the health of almost 1,200 beneficiaries across seven LCIs in the refugee community. Dr. Faniska, the clinic doctor, identified Junior as underweight and anemic. He was lacking color in his face and he shared that he often had little to no appetite. She also found that Junior’s digestive organs were infested with parasites.                                                                                                           From that point on, Dr. Faniska met with Junior and his mother on a monthly basis to monitor his weight and administer vitamins and deworming pills. She counseled the two about the importance of attending the lunch program at the Verbo LCI each day and about eating nutrient and vitamin rich food at home.                                                                          Today, Junior’s weight is back to normal. His anemia is resolved and his skin has regained its color. His body is free of parasites and he has his appetite back. His mother has observed these transformational changes in her son and remains committed to taking him to the LCI daily.
